A band that played so loud that their entire fan base went deaf and never talked about them again. Formed in 1993 in suburban San Jose, California, Super Static Fever played only a handful of gigs in their short two-year existence, punishing audiences with a tinnitus-inducing wah-wah wall of Marshall-stacked distortion.
Their sound was a blend of Melvins-esque sludge, the melodic crunch of Swervedriver and Black Flag´s penchant for loudness as heard from the stereo of a 1985 Ford Econoline. Unfinished tapes from two ear-splitting sessions are all that have survived the ensuing 25 years since their indifferent breakup, mixed by the exacting Steve Albini as the band´s sole condition for the reissue. The packaging reeks of the computer-crippled D. I.Y. aesthetic of the 90s, with VHS blurbs and opaque white grid on chipboard. A record that barely exists and probably shouldn´t exist.
