Sweet Soul is the forerunner of what we now call Modern Soul. It emerged in the late ´60s and ´70s, parallel to - but separate from - the rougher, funk-driven soul that dominated the radio airwaves. While that music promoted hard rhythms and raw emotion, sweet soul softened the edges. It favored melody, warmth and sophistication, giving it a quiet, lush feel that made it easy to return to and still love decades later.
