Arvo Pärt - And I Heard A Voice (2025) (CD)

The Estonian vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis and its director Jaan-Eik Tulve have established themselves as leading interpreters of Arvo Pärt´s music over the course of their now 25 years of close collaboration - a relationship built on the artistic partnership between Pärt and producer Manfred Eicher that has lasted almost half a decade. Of the ensemble´s ECM New Series recording of "The Deer´s Cry", BBC Music Magazine commented: "The level of artistry required to achieve an interpretation as living and breathing as that of Vox Clamantis is rarely encountered. This hauntingly authentic and superbly sung recording is arguably one of the most convincing introductions to Arvo Pärt´s music on CD".
"And I heard a voice", recorded in Haapsalu Cathedral, Estonia, and released on the occasion of Arvo Pärt´s 90th birthday, shows how the close connection between choir and composer, supported by a shared feeling for Gregorian chant as well as for contemporary music, continues to deepen.
